Carl Joseph

aka. "Balboa King" and "Afro Boy"

In the beginning there was a boy. With an afro. From humble beginings at Silvers Nightclub in February '99 this boy was bitten by the swing bug and became the "Lord of The Dance."

He now preaches and teaches to fresh converts and seasoned travellers alike. He has been to the four corners of the globe seeking guidance from the guru masters. He counts amongst his brotherhood such celebrities as the charismastic Steve Garrett, the legendary Sylvia Sykes and the immensly talented Nick Williams.

After a brief 3-year fling with Lindy Hop, he currently turns his skill to the intricate art of Balboa. Now he can be found gracefully sweeping across many a suburban dancefloor accompanied by the gasps and sighs of an adulating crowd.

In his spare time, the boy (now a man), works at Mt Eliza Business School. He is also a masterful snake charmer, collects vintage bottle tops and stands outside Flinders Street Station on a Saturday night playing bagpipes. On occassion you will find him in the company of his beautiful girlfriend Emma.
