Showgirls Dream
The Showgirls Dream programme has been tremendously successful. The course explores all dance styles and skills; kicks, spins, turns, body isolation, funk, can-can,Latin, flamenco, …everything it takes to be a great solo dancer either in Vegas, NY, at Moulin Rouge or on a Janet Jackson Video clip.
We’ll not only introduce you to the styles, but also build your skills week by week. We’ll continue to explore sections of choreography straight out of “Chicago”, “Cabaret” "Fame" and other award winning musicals and shows.
The Foxy Follies performance troupe has grown from the course and sees a growing repertoire of sassy routines incl: "Everything Old Is New Again" from "The Boy From Oz", "Santa Bring My Baby Back" , "Mickey", "Vogue" and "Cell Block Tango". We’ll start with an aerobic warm up so wear comfortable sweats so you can move comfortably. The core part of the class will be all the above description…drills, muscle and skill development and also sections of learning choreography. Then we’ll do a warm down stretch so we look after our bodies. This is a class for the wannabe dancing showgirl, run by our very own dancing Showgirl, Jo Collins.

Level 1 - For the new Showgirls
No experience req’d. This will be a skill building class, starting from the beginning to explore and develop your skills.
Level 2 - For the Vegas Veterans
For this session you need to have done a Showgirls Dream course before or have done a heap of dancing in a former life. More dance skills at a harder level with more expectation and loads of fun.

We are currently taking enrollments for all classes in 2008. The cost of each 10 week course is $180 per person (per level) or if you would like to jump into two levels, the cost for the second level is just $90.
As an example, if you would like to do both Level 1 and Level 2, the total cost is $180 + $90 = $270 (instead of $360).

Originally from New Zealand, Joanne has been teaching and performing in Melbourne since 1997. While in New Zealand Joanne won the awards of National Young Asthma Achiever of the Year, second place in The New Zealand National Ballet Awards, and an award from the Prime Minister as Outstanding Young Achiever of the Year.
Joanne graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts School of Dance in Melbourne with Honours in her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She has worked as a freelance artist and choreographer for Melbourne Fringe Festival and Melbourne International Arts Festival with performances at the World Famous Speigeltent.
Her film work includes "World Clubbing" documentary for the BBC, "Tango" for the Victorian College of the Arts film school, and various music videos for Melbourne based bands. After teaching Ballroom and Latin American at Toucan Dance Studio, Joanne toured for two years with Royal Caribbean International Cruise Lines. She performed on Splendour of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas, where she was made Dance Captain, and Voyager of the Seas as a specialist act performing silk and harness flying work.
Now Joanne is back in Melbourne and ready to inspire all the wonderful ladies out there who love to dance as much as she does!
