Six Beat Tricks and Treats

This week is all about the wow factor with some simple but stunning moves to get the crowd cheering. The boys will be spinnin’ and the girls will be grinnin’ and we’ll all have a darn good time!

 

 

Class revision: Monday 14^th July

 

• 6 beat triple steps

-          leads: rock step left, triple step L, R, L, then R, L, R

-          follows: rock step right, triple step R, L, R, then L, R, L

 

• Inside turn from closed to open

-          Rock step to build up momentum, then leads bring their left hands to their right shoulder and turn the girls to open.

 

• Flick turn

-     Rock step to side, bring left arm through middle and flick back the other way. Follows maintain triple step through turn.

 

 

Australian Jitterbug Championships – THIS Saturday 19^th July

Come and see the BEST swing dancers in Australia as they bust out their best moves and compete to become Australian Lindy Hop Champions!

 

So many of the top dancers were inspired by watching competitions such as this, and we highly recommend you get along for the spectacle! With sections in slow, medium, and fast swing, balboa, solo Charleston and a section just for all the new dancers in the scene, there is bound to be something that makes your jaw drop!

Routine starts in THREE weeks!!

 

We will start teaching the routine on Monday 4^th August at 7.30pm

 

From Monday 4^th August Bentleigh classes will operate as follows:

 

6.30pm – Level 1 drop-in class continued

7.30pm – Routine class

 

Remember that if you do two classes in one night you get the second class HALF PRICE. So, that’s $21 for two classes per person.

 

Routine’s are a great way to consolidate your learning, they are fun, challenging and provide an amazing sense of achievement come “performance night”.

 

The Performance Ball is on Saturday 11^th October, so keep the night free!

 

Swing Patrol’s 10^th Birthday Black Tie Ball – Saturday 2^nd August

 

Swing Patrol turns a whoppin’ TEN years old in August and we are celebrating with a black tie ‘Red Carpet Swing Ball’ at the stunning Melbourne Town Hall. 

 

Join us on Saturday August 2nd with the B# Big Band for the party to end all parties.  With over 800 seats at the hall, there will be plenty of seating available, fabulous music by ones of Melbourne’s most respected and popular swing bands, floorshows and dancing non-stop in the most prestigious venue in Melbourne.  Tickets are available for $48 per person online through ticketek or by calling 132 849.  Hope to see you there!
